Why does the Conversations course matter?

As we grapple with the complex challenges of mental ill-health issues, social inequality and a growing climate crisis, it's essential to support young people to navigate their thoughts, feelings and actions. This workshop empowers you to lead open, supportive discussions and seamlessly integrate them into daily learning. Our simple framework helps foster a sense of empowerment, laying the groundwork for a more active and resilient generation.

What does the Conversations course offer you?

In just two hours, this online workshop supports a shift from overwhelm to empowerment, offering practical tools and live-examples to enrich your teaching practice. You'll learn techniques to feel more confident talking about complex issues, helping you to foster deeper connections amongst students and together address global issues with compassion, energy and empowerment.

Content

  • Explore the emotional dynamics at play when confronting global challenges. You'll learn how to integrate these essential discussions into daily interactions, whether in the classroom or at home, transforming potential anxiety into healthy dialogue. Develop the skills needed to start brave conversations that can shift perspectives and inspire meaningful change.

  • Learn effective strategies to address and alleviate eco-anxiety and overwhelm that often accompany discussions about today's global crises. Gain insights into the workings of the nervous system and discover methods to help regulate emotions. This part of the course offers practical skills to enhance you and your students' resilience and wellbeing, ensuring a healthy response when facing challenging issues.

  • Enable healthier relationships with self, others and nature within learning communities. Embed approaches that not only support but also enhance the interpersonal dynamics in educational settings through simple, everyday actions. With over two decades of experience as a secondary school teacher and curriculum designer, she champions the belief that education has the power to ignite positive change in the world. Rachel collaborates with global leaders and educators to drive policy reform, facilitates transformative workshops and delivers impactful keynotes on education transformation. Her unwavering commitment to empowering educators and students alike reflects her belief in creating a more compassionate and sustainable world through education.

Holly Everett - Director of Community
Holly brings a wealth of experience in designing and delivering immersive education programmes. With a passion for fostering empathy and connection, Holly is an Aspen UK Rising Leaders Fellow, qualified teacher and coach. Her journey began as a secondary school English teacher before transitioning to the non-profit sector, where she has spent the last six years developing and delivering education programmes addressing issues ranging from bullying to digital literacy, mental wellbeing, and sustainability. Holly's leadership was pivotal in the creation of the groundbreaking Rebooting Education Report, reflecting her commitment to creating positive change in education and beyond.
